ORDM is road design software, it's developed specifically for the both hills and plain terrain. ORDM is a result of an ongoing long-term research carried out since two decades before development, in the hilly terrain situations of Russia, Syria, Bhutan and Nepal. Most of the simulations carried out in optimizing the 3D based road design with dynamic theories of optimization. ORDM has instant facilities to Cross-Section, DTM, GIS, TIN, 3D, and more.

Road Design Software with features like 3d optimization of plan, profile, and x-section through minimization of the objective function of different road costs. Complete features for assessment of environment, geology, hydrology, construction costs, maintenance costs, user's costs and other costs consisting of the total transportation costs.

Most of the simulations carried out in optimizing the 3D based road design are also run by the dynamic theories of optimizations. Experiments carried-out on these aspects show that there could be a reduction of total project costs varying from 10% to 30% depending upon complexity of road parameters involved.

In fact, ORDM is one of its kind in the context of 3D optimization of plan, profile, and X-section through minimization of the objective function of different road costs resulted after an assessment of environment, geology, hydrology, construction costs, maintenance costs, user's costs and other costs consisting of the total transportation costs. Examples on hill road projects have been tested successfully while confirming the advantages of the model-ORDM, which is the outcome of extensive research works that have been carried-out in the diversified socio-economic and terrain situations of different countries.

Some of the features of Optimum Road Design Model:

• ORDM has 3D optimization facility (Plan, L-section and X-section) which permits to optimize the design of hill roads on the basis of minimizing the objective function of costs by satisfying the technical constraints.
• Details design of walls can also be conducted for critical walls as per the need of the designer. However, the earthwork quantity by considering wall quantity could be generated with exact drawing of walls in such X-sections.
• TIN data created by Delaunay Triangulation Method (like: Land Development, CREDO, and others, etc) can be further optimized to increase the accuracy of TIN by making them closer to equilateral. Practical experiments carried on these aspects show that there could be 5 to 15 % increase in the accuracy of these TIN data which will enhance the quality of road plan and design.
• Effective editing facilities of TIN are developed to enhance the accuracy and the reliability of TIN surface which can minimize the quantity variation between the design and construction phases.
• Hazard assessment can also be carried out on the basis of assigning the ratings of different parameters such as: ground slope, geology, topography, hydrology, and other parameters as well.
